Apologies where due

PG Wodehouse once said " It is a good rule in life never to apologise. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them".

That said, it has been brought to my attention that I maligned our highly esteemed President in an earlier email by suggesting he selected David's handicap. It appears that, in fact, David determined his own handicap. Consequently, I can do little more than humbly apologise to all concerned and hope that any hurt was temporary and not long lasting.

  1. A further apology is required, I permitted this slur on our president's character to pass unmentioned for the purposes of cheap entertainment at his expense and others.

To quote another literary master - "Any cheap shot is a good one" [D Stedman Punch 2010 March] and of course "I have stood on the shoulders of others" [I Newton 1655 Principia M..] illustrate the impotence (is this spelling right? - Ed.) of benefiting from the work of others.
